MANILA, Philippines — Homegrown fast-food giant Jollibee Foods Corp. has partnered with the Department of Education (DepEd) to co-develop a quick service restaurant (QSR) curriculum for senior high school (SHS) students and construct 50 classrooms by 2028 as part of the company’s 50th anniversary.
“This partnership with the Jollibee Group is a strong example of how public-private cooperation can bring industry-relevant learning into the classroom," Education Secretary Sonny Angara said in a statement on Tuesday.
“At a time when AI (artificial intelligence) and tech disruption are reshaping industries and jobs, this collaboration gives our learners not only the right skills but also the resilience to thrive," he said.
"The commitment to build 50 new classrooms by 2028 also shows how this partnership invests in both knowledge and space, ensuring that more Filipino students are equipped for the future of work."
Jollibee Group Philippines CEO Joseph Tanbuntiong said the partnership sought to help address educational challenges and bridge the gap between school and employment.

“I have always believed that education opens doors—lifting up individuals, families, and entire communities. But in many parts of the country, teachers and students continue to face challenges that can make learning more difficult," he said, acknowledging the gap between school and work that leaves many students underprepared for employment.

"As a company whose purpose is to spread joy, we believe we have the opportunity to help change these through the partnership with DepEd,” he said.
Under the agreement, Jollibee Group and DepEd will co-develop a specialized QSR curriculum tailored for students under the Technical Professional track.
The program will integrate classroom instruction with immersive on-the-job training across Jollibee Group brands, focusing on restaurant operations, food preparation, customer service, safety and sanitation, and business communication.
Jollibee Group Philippines Chief Human Resources Officer Ruth Angeles said the program underscored the company’s goal of inclusive growth, “creating more pathways for young Filipinos to achieve meaningful employment.”
“By investing in their skills early on, we also help raise the standards of service in the QSR sector,” Angeles said., This news data comes from:http://yamato-syokunin.com
Alongside the curriculum, the Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF) committed to building 50 classrooms by 2028 to support the country’s education infrastructure. Construction will start in 2026 with six classrooms in Mindoro, Cebu, and Sarangani.
“This classroom building project is a key part of the Jollibee Group’s 50th anniversary celebration in 2028 and JGF’s 20th year this year,” JGF President Gisela Tiongson said.
“Our vision is to help create learning spaces where every child, teacher, and community member can experience the joy and power of education. By investing in both programs and physical infrastructure, we contribute to a more empowered and resilient generation of learners,” she added.
